The Orton Gillingham Center of Charleston (OGCC) was established in 2018 by Charleston leaders seeking change in the way dyslexic learners are taught to read. We are committed to elevating the Orton Gillingham approach in the lowcountry by training more professionals and ensuring completion of the accreditation process with The Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.

The Orton-Gillingham Center of Charleston (OGCC) is committed to providing training and intervention instruction of the highest quality by working with credentialed Fellows of the Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). Our priority is to always implement the OG approach with fidelity while operating with the upmost integrity.
The Academy of Orton-Gilllingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE) is a non profit 501 (c)3 established to set and maintain professional standards for the training and accreditation of OG Practitioners. A four- year Bachelor’s Degree is a pre-requisite to the intensive traning program. Fellows of OG must also have a Master’s Degree. The Academy certifies members at one of four levels: OG Classroom Educator, Associate, Certified and Fellow. An extensive, supervised practicum is a critical component of OG training for all accredited members.
