Beyond the Basics
OGCC is pleased to offer a series of seminars/workshops for Associate Level practitioners taught by Sheila Costello, Accredited Training Fellow/AOGPE. Seminars will be offered on Fridays from 9-3 and count for 6 hours of training. These seminars may be counted as hours for Certified Level training, but are open to any Associate interested in extending their OG knowledge.

February 28- Introduction to Morphology
March 27- History of English and Literacy in America/Word Detective (morph cont.)
April 24- Dyslexia and the Brain, Testing and Assessment

The Academy requires 100 hours of coursework at the Certified Level over the 2 years of the Certified training and practicum. Approved conferences may count for up to 25 of these hours. The following seminars would accrue 36 hours of training each year plus an additional 6 hours if you participate in the April project. (total 84 hours)
Listed below are one-day Friday seminar/workshops to cover the curriculum of the Academy at the Certified Level over 2 years. Each will count for 6 hours of Certified training. Note that trainees must also begin the AOGPE Certified Reading List (2017), with written responses submitted to their supervising Fellow.

Dyslexia and the Brain, Testing and Assessment
Year 2: TBD
Over 2 years Certified candidates will be assigned to a section in each of 2 or 3 projects and report back to the group on their section.
Year 1: Comparison of other OG programs- each trainee will be assigned a program to evaluate and report on to the group.

Prerequisite: Associate Level Membership of AOGPE
Time: 9am-3pm- Full day (6 hours) training sessions will be taught by Sheila Costello (AFT/AOGPE) and take place at the Orton-Gillingham Center of Charleston.
A certificate will be emailed to each participant following the seminar for a receipt of completed hours.
