The Orton-Gillingham Center of Charleston (OGCC) is a nonprofit, ministry, dedicated to serving the Charleston community by providing OG training and intervention, professional development, parent education and dyslexia advocacy.



The OGCC has a vision to bring experts, stakeholders and donors together to make Charleston a leader in the state for addressing dyslexia, using the Orton-Gillingham approach. The OGCC will train teachers, certify professionals and increase the availability of this evidence based reading instruction to students regardless of age, race and socioeconomic status.  

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a language based learning disability that is neurobiological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities.
